Roy Piskadlo
Leadership Committed to Positive Change

Roy has been happily married to his wife Ellen for 36 years, and together they’ve raised three wonderful children and recently welcomed their first grandchild. His journey began in New Jersey, but the call of the mountains brought him to Utah in 1981, where he pursued his love for skiing and a deep passion for learning at the University of Utah. There, Roy delved into Chemical Engineering, Math, Physics, and Finance, earning both an undergraduate degree in Physics and a Master of Finance. It was in an engineering physics class that he met Ellen, and they married in the serene beauty of Millcreek Canyon in 1988.

In 2010, Roy and his family made the move back to Utah for good, so their children could grow up skiing and racing at Snowbird. With extensive experience developing, financing, and trading energy infrastructure projects across the United States, Latin America, and Europe, Roy has seen firsthand the challenges of government-sponsored projects. This knowledge has fueled his dedication to ensuring that taxpayer money is used wisely and that community interests are protected.

Roy is deeply concerned about the proposed Little Cottonwood Canyon Gondola, a project he believes will be over budget, require perpetual taxpayer support, and negatively impact the quality of life for Cottonwood Heights residents. He’s running for House District 41 to leverage his extensive professional experience to work with UDOT and engineers to uncover the true costs and implications of this project. Roy is committed to standing up for the people of Cottonwood Heights, ensuring that decisions made in the state legislature reflect the best interests of the community, not just the financial gain of a few.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Roy has always been an active member of his community. He’s served as the Eastern Region Legislative District Chair of the Republican Party and volunteers with the Salt Lake Practical Shooters Association. Whether teaching skiing at Brighton and Snowbird or engaging in local politics, Roy’s dedication to Utah runs deep. Roy believes in a future where our community thrives without unnecessary burdens. He’s ready to bring his knowledge, experience, and love for Utah to the table as your representative in House District 41.
